Do you cringe when you start talking to a new prospect and use a line you KNOW they’ve heard a million times already? They’ve heard it, you say it, they run. You know in your heart, there must be a better way!
And there is! Prospecting online is a personal experience. When you use a worn out pickup line, you are telling your new connection “I don’t really have any interest in you except as my next sale.”
Who wants to hear that? NO ONE. In fact…
Using lines like that instantly breaks all rapport and sets you not just back to zero but worse, it puts you at less than zero. Because now they’re aware – there’s a pitch coming, maybe not now, but soon. It will take a while to rebuild and you have to weigh the value of your time rebuilding versus making new connections and doing it the RIGHT way.
